About me

Hi I’m Alexander Blackman, a thirty-something web designer and front-end developer. I work at Blue House Design a small design agency in Maidstone, Kent.

I’ve work on client projects including helping a client transition to digital services it provides the NHS, improved the user experience of a family-run hotel chain.

I also write the agency case studies and blog posts, provide technical support for current and legacy projects.

Before turning my attention to web design, I made a living as a Taekwon-Do instructor. I setup and ran a club in Hastings, as well as teaching classes to pre-school children, children and adults across Kent and Sussex.

After university I joined a specialist technology company and helped double it’s turnover to four million pounds that led to acquisition. During my time there I worked on across all aspects of the business including marketing, sales, technical support, quality management and software development.

Outside of work

I have a degree in fine art from the prestigous Chelsea College of Art and Design. I am a second degree black belt in Taekwon-Do and enjoy watching sports in particular cricket and rugby. I like to read about typography and grid design where I appear to have started a book colleciton.

I am also interested in socialist politics and economics, and I am a member of the Labour party. I live in Tonbridge, Kent with my wife Rebecca.
